Gardening is one of the best hobbies and is liked by a lot of us. It provides relaxation and also helps a person in getting engaged in some form of exercise which in turn cultivates the mind and helps him/her in leading an enthusiastic lifestyle. Gardening can be of various types such as flower, herb or vegetable gardening. It is up to an individual as to what kind of gardening he or she wants to engage in. Choosing the type of preferred gardening should be given the utmost priority.

In this article, we will focus on flower and herb gardening.

To begin with, one needs to think about the theme, idea and design of the garden. This is important because it will help us to decide whether we want to put up a classy looking garden, a dainty one or a not too colorful plot but still beneficial in terms of home remedy use. It will also make a difference if you have a property in Bodrum, or if you have a property in Liverpool, as the climate will dictate what you can actually plant and grow as well.

After deciding on the theme and design, the next step will be to choose the herbs and flowers. Roses are preferred by most of the gardeners. They provide us with beautiful colors and also emit sweet smell and are usually associated with love. Carnations and hibiscus are also great options. These flowers won’t go wrong or clash with those of the large herb flowers. One can also choose dainty flowers which will equally go with the dainty herbs.

Oregano, jasmine and lavender are beautiful flowers as well as herbs. Oregano leaves are good for cooking, whereas jasmine and lavender have soothing and therapeutic properties. The other herb option plants which have beautiful blooms are borage, clove pinks, calendula, bergamot, hyssop and anise. These plants can be used for home based treatments and some of them are also edible.

So, now you can plan properly so as to have a beautiful backyard that has a touch of functionality.
